Saturday 5th to Monday 7th May   The Big Welsh Coastal Walk to celebrate the official opening of the 870-mile footpath around the coastline of Wales.  The Ramblers Association are encouraging as many people as possible to become involved so why not visit the Ramblers website and go on the Google map to find out about walks in your area and then contact the walk leaders directly to join in.  Also see the Wales Coast Path website.  Three official events are taking place in Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Flint.  This is an opportunity to discover the magnificent coastline of Wales and the fantastic walking available.

Brecon Beacons Park Society Event:  9.30 am to 5.30 pm  Energetic walk of approximately 12 miles along the Heritage Coast.  Cliff top and beach walk starting from Ogmore-by-Sea then along to Southerndown across Ogmore Down around Southerndown Golf Course then down to Ogmore Castle where cream teas are available. 

9.30 am Starting from Llantwit Major Railway Station car park.  Nine to ten mile moderate walk. 

Bridgend Ramblers Event: 10.00 am from Newton Beach, Porthcawl, to Merthyr Mawr and back.  Approximately six miles.

10.15 am  Starting from the estuary, walk from Ogmore-by-Sea along the heritage coastline past Dunraven and St. Donat’s Castle to Llantwit Major.  Approximately nine miles. 

10.15 am  Starting from Llantwit Major Information Centre a circular walk across the fields, paths and tracks of the Heritage Coast incorporating a visit to St. Donat’s church.  Approximately eight and a half miles. 

10.30 am  Starting from the lighthouse at Nash Point along the Heritage Coast path past St. Donat’s Castle and Tresilian Bay to the ancient town of Llantwit Major.  Approximately four miles.
