Bridgend County Borough
Council has appealed against the decision by the Vale of Glamorgan Council to
refuse planning permission in relation to the Ogmore School Camp site.
St. Brides Major Community
Council has been asked to provide evidence of the school camp's use as a
community facility. If you are aware of any community use at any time over
the years, eg meetings, courses, clubs, sporting activities, social events,
etc., you are asked to write to the Vale Planning Department and if possible
send a copy to St. Brides Major Community Council as well.
Wick Village Fete Committee are planning
several events to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
These include a dance, village fete and Dragon Parade, followed by the lighting
of the Beacon which will be one of 2,012 throughout the country. Anyone
wishing to help with the organisation of these events should contact Carol Brown
on 01656 890124.
There are many events planned in order to raise funds in aid of the Western Vale Eisteddfod Appeal
(due to be held at Llandow from 4th to 11th August, 2012)
such as car boot sales, firework display and led walks. Each walk will
visit two churches in the Benefice and a local inn and is flexible; if you
cannot walk far you can just visit one of the churches or end your walk at the
public house. Donation of around £3 per person collected on the day.
Help and support
welcomed.
Inconsiderate parking,
antisocial behaviour,
lighting of illegal
fires and damage
to the Common have all been a cause of concern to Ogmore-by-Sea residents are
therefore a PACT priority.
Did you know these incidents can be reported by calling 101 which is a
non-emergency number?
Do you buy milk in plastic bottles? If so, please consider collecting the
green tops and taking them to St. Bridget's Church, St. Brides Major, or
All Saints Church, Southerndown, to help Heronsbridge School - and why not take
along postcards and stamps for Children in Distress too!
Is something happening in the locality? Why not let people
know here! Contact the editor or leave details in St. Brides Major
Post Office.
